Community health
We work with Local Authorities and Primary Care Trusts to measure and manage the health of the community. With vielife as the entry point, we can signpost individuals to local support services, vielife health promotion services and work in partnership to improve the health of the community.
Healthy people = healthy community

Working in partnership with vielife, NHS Bolton launched the Health Trainer programme to help tackle serious health inequalities and poor life expectancy in the borough.
Connect 4 Life (C4L) is a pilot health improvement programme developed by Tameside & Glossop PCT and vielife in partnership with local GPs, the local council and the voluntary sector with the objective of tackling health inequalities in the community.
Bedfordshire Police Force approached vielife to adopt a more proactive approach to lifestyle related health issues. Since vielife launched Bedfordshire Police demonstrated an 11% improvement in nutrition and 7% improvement in stress management scores.

Our Community Assistance Programme (CAP)
Our CAP programme is designed to widen the access to psychological therapies, providing earlier and faster pathways to treatment.
We are currently working in partnership with PCTs, to provide a support platform to assist service providers to deliver mental health solutions for IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies).
CAP is an internet and telephone based portal which puts members of the community in contact with clinically trained counsellors. Using approved assessment processes, counsellors will identify and refer the individual to a range of appropriate interventions, including telephonic counselling.
CAP will also gather all the required data to monitor and assess the effectiveness and timeliness of interventions being offered by all service providers both internal and external.
In effect, it is a one stop shop for community psychological support.
Some of the benefits include:
- Reducing the cost of service delivery
- Faster assessment and access to appropriate treatment
- Improving the range of access to psychological therapies
- Improving community outreach
- Increasing the level of client support during treatment
- Better co-ordination of care pathways

Why invest?
There is a wealth of research and evidence supporting the efficacy of community health promotion interventions. The facts and figures speak for themselves:
- Health promotion interventions can lead to a 5% reduction in the number of high health risk individuals in a population (vielife/IHPM Health and Productivity Research Study 2005)
- Health promotion interventions can result in a 10% increase in the number of low health risk individuals in a population (vielife/IHPM Health and Productivity Research Study 2005)
- The potential savings from implementing the vielife solution in the community, and avoiding the associated costs of managing preventable conditions such as heart disease and stroke is estimated to be in the region of £1.3 million over 10 years (Independent economic evaluation of the Connect 4 Life project 2007).
With a compelling return on investment, how can you afford not to invest in the health & well-being of your community?
